Dr. Lester R. Kitchen graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science. He obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Houston School of Optometry in 1964. He practiced under the late Dr. J. W. Kinard in Lubbock, TX, from 1964 to 1966, then at Lowry AFB in Colorado until 1968. He has been in private practice here in Austin, TX for over 35 years. He received his Texas State Therapeutic Optometry license in 1992.
Dr. Kitchen is experienced in all aspects of eye and vision health, including hard to fit contact lenses (bifocals, keratoconus, and overnight corneal refractive therapy), as well as eye diseases and treatments. He is involved in co-management for Lasik vision correction and cataract surgery patients for Texas' leading eye surgeons. Dr. Kitchen sees patients ranging in ages from 3 to 103.
Dr. Kitchen is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and Central Texas Optometric Society, and has participated in many charity events throughout the years.
He enjoys fishing, hunting on his lease west of Austin, and bragging to his staff his latest golf score.
Dr. Aaron T. Wolf, a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Baylor University before pursuing his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. Dr. Wolf has been highly trained in ocular disease such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. He is experienced in pre and post-operative LASIK and cataract surgery management and has special interest in dry eye and ocular allergy treatment. Dr. Wolf also regularly provides contact lens fitting and pediatric eye exams.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association and Central Texas Optometric Society.
Dr. Wolf is a native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio. He enjoys spending time outdoors around the Texas hill country and gulf coast, following his favorite college and professional sports teams, and playing in various recreational sport leagues.
SUPPORT STAFF:
Valerie Smith is one of our resident opticians. She has been in the optical field for over 21 years. She is Dr. Kitchen's ophthalmic technician as well, performing all needed preliminary tests, and assisting in minor surgeries.
Valerie's expertise in frame styling has led to many beautiful people over the years. Her knowledge of the latest lens materials and frame options can have you seeing and looking your best! Come in and see what she can do for you!
Valerie enjoys scuba diving, traveling to exotic islands, and snuggling with her miniature pinschers, Ollie & Sammie
Cindy Salazar is a 15 year optician. Proficient in using our latest technology diagnostic equipment. She will do your preliminary testing before you see the doctor. This includes Specular Microscope to manage your corneal health, RTA (Retinal Thickness Analyzer) and Auto-refractor/Topography.
She is very knowledgeable and eager to educate you on your eyeglass lens styles and materials with superior optics, and help guide you on frame selection. Our goal is to have you seeing and looking your best.
Cindy is a native Texan. She enjoys spending time along the coast with her 2 kids and doggie. Also enjoys the live music scene, motorcycle rides through the hill country and reading mysteries and thrillers.
Terra Reitmeyer is our office manager. Terra handles all appointment scheduling. She will be the first person and the last person you see in our office. She can assist you with insurance and billing questions.
Terra enjoys spending time with her husband, her two sons, and two dogs Lilo and Stitch. In her spare time she enjoys reading, shopping, traveling and visiting with friends and family.
